When designing a website, there a few steps you should take before diving into Dreaweaver.

>What is your site about?
Seriously, what is the purpose, if you don't have one, it ends up being a waste of time!
Research and get ready to plan before you design.
My Topic/Audience: New Webbies, like me!

>Organize and Consolidate?
Take all the information you got and put it together, so you and other people can enjoy and understand easily.
You can do this via a site map. (pictured above)

>Templates?
A wireframe can help with that. This is a way to start planning the look of your site's content.
You can see an example in the following blog.

>Attitude!
Find out what attitude you want your site to portray. Look into how other people tackle the subject.
Do you want it to be a certain way for your audience, will it appeal to them or turn them off?

>CREATE! ow!
Dig into designing, you have your content, its organized, and you know how to organize it so it can be comprehended!
Why wait? Start the best part, the creative design.

Run rapidly across the stage!
Entertain your family etc etc.

What to do next. Look for a job!

I hope you started this search a long time ago, but if you did not, start NOW!

It seems now that people are expecting Graphic Designers, did you see the Graphic before Designer? Okay, great!
Well, most employers are blending Graphic Designer with Web Designer, the two are practically synonymous.

Learning web should be placed right along with making sure you save your print files correctly, doing publications in Indesign, and manipulating type and illustrations in Illustrator.

These are a few websites that can help you in your job searching if you do not know where to start!

www.coroflot.com
www.designrelated.com
www.krop.com
www.behance.com
www.craigslist.org (art and media)
www.indeed.com
www.creativehotlist.com

Good luck on the search!

If you go Spain, you may want to learn Spanish.
If you go to Mars, you may even want to learn a little Martian.

When you are dealing with the web, knowing certain terms and lingo
could prevent you from making a fool from yourself!
Nobody wants to be remembered as the girl who thought Javascript had something
to do with coffee.

Just like everyone else, I have favorites.
Art and Design is subjective, Web is no exception.

Some Terms that you may run into more than others, well I know I have run into them more than I do people I am trying to avoid, are as follows:

CSS
Javascript (not to be confused with Java)
Sitemap
Cross Browser Compatibility
